What do people think about the nature of his death?
For me, the coincidence of his passing with the trial is the weirdest part of it. From what I have read, there were severe flash-floods that weekend, which could have easily led him to have fallen at some point. In fact, the year before, a party of seven scouts at Sespe all died due to the horrendous weather conditions up there.
Bugliosi paints a darker picture, and cites a revelation from Sandra Good that he was killed by members of the "family" (although he has no proof). I note that Bruce Davis was at large at the time, and he handed himself in very shortly afterwards. I have never been able to fathom out Davis' reasons for turning himself in. Ideas anyone?

For your info...

Yes, that B. Davis quote is quite scary- as is the sight of him the day he turned himself in. Apparently he was fried on LSD
Given everyone else's attempts to hot foot it in the face of the law, Bruce Davis' turning himself in just doesn't fit. The story goes, he was living in some sewers with Brenda, and the word went out for him to give himself up on the Shea charge.
Like everything else surrounding Davis' movements at that time, there are heavy question marks hanging over him.

yeah, bruce davis has always fascinated me. with all the recent talk of bodies buried at Barker Ranch the "they dont know the half of it" quote may one day make sense.
do you know where the theory of davis being the zodiac killer came from?

Bruce Davis' movements have been under close scrutiny by a gentleman named Dr. Howard Davies. He runs a website.
http://www.zodiacmurders.com/
My own feelings is that although some of the killings attributed to the Zodiac have strong similarities, especially with the insignia the Family have used, I am not really that convinced of a connection.
However, Bruce Davis semantics when quizzed at the time of his arrest are definitely worthy of further investigation! I am amazed no one has investigated this person seriously. I believe there were a couple of officers attached to the "Family" investigation who attempted to probe a little deeper, but given the weight of other, more immediate issues relating to the case, their findings were not pursued.
Pity...

Davis' reasons for turning himself in? It was on Charlies orders.

I watched the interview of Bruce Davis turning himself in with Brenda. I agree, they are both tripping and show signs of repeated/heavy use of LSD.

UPDATE:
I was just going back through my collection of interviews and Bruce Davis does admit to being "loaded" on LSD that day he turned himself in.
The interviewer also asked about his reponse to being told how he will be charged with several murders...when he said something like "is that all".
He said it didn't mean anything other than himself just acting evil....

Statements like these reveal his total misunderstanding of the power of the law. He will NEVER walk out of prison because of this type of comment. I don't think he had a clue he would still be sitting in prison 40, 50 and maybe even 60 years later because of his own stupidity.
"What you say can and will be used against you"
That sentence basically means shut the hell up and let your attorney speak for you in a civil manner.

Obviously Bruce was not "with it" when he was turning himself in...and using LSD repeatedly didn't help.
